About

Kara was a stay-at-home mom with a vision.  She painted during her children's nap times and every moment she could steal.  Experimenting, developing her skills, and becoming the artist she always knew she would be.  Her art reflects her life.  Now, she is interested in inspiring others through her work.

Kara is interested in change and transformation throughout place and time, including growth as individuals and community.  She believes art contains a language that connects people of all backgrounds.  She is passionate about inspiring people to discover and become the best version of themselves.

Her paintings  reveal a heavenly presence, as her work is spiritually charged and embodies the power of Christ.  She lives out her faith through art and connecting to the deepest part of herself and others.  She gains inspiration through history, travel, and daily living with her husband, 2 children, and dog peanut.

Process

She paints intuitively using oil paint and a variety of techniques, including the palette knife.  Each mark facilitates the next.  The work is a conversation between the deepest parts of herself and the painting.  Each painting grows and evolves as new discoveries are made, contributing to the next work.  No piece stands alone, it is a congruent whole.

Her work is like a map of history built up by many marks.  Revealing what is underneath and adding new information and innovations.  The old exists with the new, and it is all interconnected.  Her paintings abstractly express landscape, figure, and architecture.  It is the world around us, and the world within us.  Like a woven tapestry throughout place and time, whatever discoveries that have been made cannot exist without what has come before.
